WEST SUMATERA
West Sumatra is located in the central western part of Sumatra, and it has lowlands on the west coast as well as volcanic plateaus formed by the Bukit Barisan, which stretches from northwest to southeast. This province's coastline is completely in contact with the Indian Ocean for 375 kilometers. The Mentawai Islands, which are located in the Indian Ocean and several tens of kilometers off the coast of West Sumatra, are included in this province.
